One form of deception is the honeypot, where you attract attackers to a server or system using an easy target, like a file named 'passwords.txt' or you

honeynet: a network of honeytraps

honeytokens: falsified data you intentionally put out for an attacker to find, gives you information if your network is being attacked 

Another method is bear trap - encrypt some data with a compromised or easy password, or fake api credentials, and if it's used, then you know that system is compromised
